How to Apply Transfers
To achieve the best results when applying DTF transfers to cotton shirts, polyester shirts, and poly blend fabrics, follow these guidelines for pressure, time, and temperature:
- Cotton Shirts:
- Heat Press Temperature: 280°F
- Time: 15 seconds
- Pressure: Medium (40-50 PSI)
- Polyester Shirts:
- Heat Press Temperature: 260°F
- Time: 12-15 seconds
- Pressure: Medium (40-50 PSI)
- Poly Blend Shirts:
- Heat Press Temperature: 280°F
- Time: 12-15 seconds
- Pressure: Medium (40-50 PSI)
- Pre-press the garment: Place the shirt on the heat press and pre-press for 5 seconds to remove any moisture, wrinkles and to a create a uniform press space.
- Position the transfer: Place the DTF transfer on the garment with the printed side facing down.
- Apply the transfer: Set your heat press to the appropriate temperature, time, and pressure based on the fabric type.
- Press: Close the heat press and apply pressure for the specified time.
- Cool peel: Allow the transfer to cool completely before peeling the film off.
- Peeling: Create an aggressive edge and peel quickly.
- Second Press: Add a cotton layer between the pressed garment and heat plate. Press for a second time for 5 seconds. This helps give the transfer the best hand feel.
